Seltener Atlas aus der Amsterdamer Offizin von Justus Danckerts und seinen Söhnen. Vollständiges Exemplar in zeitgenössischem Grenzkolorit.
"Die größte Blütezeit erlebte der Verlag unter Justus D. [1635-1701] .., als viele Kunstdrucke und ungefähr 300 Karten publiziert wurden. Von den Altanten, die sie aus diesen Karten zusammenstellten, sind nur noch wenige erhalten geblieben" (LGK I, 150). - Vollständig mit allegorischem Kupfertitel und 24 Karten (dem Index ofte Aenwysing nach, dort num. 1-25). Alle Karten mit Signatur von Vater Justus und den Söhnen Justus (oder Justinus), Theodor oder Cornelius D., die Balkankarte Regni Hungariae, Graeciae et Moreae signiert von Johannes D. - Enthält u. a. die Weltkarte Nova totius terrarum orbis tabula in zwei Hemisphären (Shirley 529) und die Karte von Nord- und Südamerika Recentissima novis orbis sive Americae , die zweite Amerika-Karte, die Justus Danckerts Sen. herausgegeben hat und die Burden II, 725 im 2. Zustand so wie hier auf ca. 1696 datiert. Desweiteren mit Kontinentkarten von Asien, Afrika und Europa, Karten der europäischen Länder, vom Russischen Reich, Türkischem Reich und dem Heiligen Land. Die Karten wie stets ohne Rückentext.
EINBAND: Pappband des 19. Jhs. 51 : 31 cm. - ILLUSTRATION: Mit koloriertem allegorischem Kupfertitel und 24 grenzkolorierten doppelblattgr. Kupferkarten. - KOLLATION: 1 Bl. Index ofte Aenwysing . - ZUSTAND: Vorwieg. die ersten Karten etwas gebräunt und fleckig, in der Mittelfalte meist mit überwieg. hinterlegten Einrissen, Titel und Index mit meist kleinen Fehlstellen im Rand bzw. Index oben mit ergänztem Eckabschnitt, Weltkarte im oberen Rand und entlang der Mittelfalte verso mit schmalem Papierstreifen verstärkt, Karte vom Hl. Land mit ergänztem Eckabriß. Einband fleckig, berieben und bestoßen, Rücken mit 2 Fehlstellen. Innen insgesamt gutes Exemplar. - PROVENIENZ: Süddeutsche Privatsammlung.

With world maps in 2 hemispheres (Shirley 529) and map of North and South America (Burden II, 725, 2nd state (of 3)). 19th cent. cardboard binding (damaged). - Mainly the first maps somewhat tanned and stained, with mostly rebacked tears to centrefold, engr. title and index leaf with rebacked defects to margins, world map reinforced along the upper margins and centrefold with narrow paper strip, map of the Holy Land with remargined defect in upper corner. Inside overall good copy.
