• Multi-figure scene by the famous Berlin graphic artist and humorist.
• The artist manages to capture posture and mood of several interacting people with just a few poised lines.
• As of ca. 1900 a wider audience noticed Zille, as his drawings were published in magazines like "Simplicissimus" and "Jugend".
• Similar drawings are in possession of, among others, the 'Kupferstichkabinett' of the Berlin State Museums, the 'Kupferstichkabinett' of the State Art Collections Dresden, and the Museum Ludwig, Cologne
.

PROVENANCE: Collection Dr. Fritz Sternberg (1895-1963), Berlin (inherited from parents).
Private collection (obtained as grift from the above).
Ever since family-owned.

Atmospherich depiction, in good condition. With slight mount staining, minimally irregularly discolored. Tiny spot of paper loss in bottom edge, presumably in the nature of the work (edge slightly irregular anyway). Bottom right corner with a slightly skinned spot and tiny unobtrusive holes.
