This work is part of a series of works in which Gottfried Helnwein reference masterpieces of art history, among other, Caravaggio or Andrea Mantegna. This work is an interpretation of the presumably most famous painting by Jacques-Louis David, the "Tod des Marat" from 1793. [KP].
