Thorndike devotes much space to a thorough analysis of this remarkable work and points out the stress laid by Albertus on personal investigation and experiment" (Duveen). - Die Holzschnitte zeigen chemische Gefäße, einen Ofen etc.

Second edition by the Strasbourg physician Ryff of these two tracts (first publ. 1541). With 8 (1 fullpage) woodcuts in text and woodcut printer's device at end. Blindtooled calf around 1900. - First leaves with few womrholes, title and p. 7 with erased stamp. Binding slightly rubbed and bumped (1 corner repaired). In general good copy. - Bookplate Robert Steele and color armorial bookplate by Otto Hupp for the "Königl. Württembergischen Hofbibliothek". From the library of the Bonn geologist and palaeontologist Prof. Dr Wolfhart Langer (1933-2017).
