Verso erroneously typographically inscribed "Jüngling" (as mentioned in the catalogue raisonné). On creme wove paper. 19 x 14 cm (7.4 x 5.5 in). Sheet: 32,4 x 23,7 cm (12,7 x 9,3 in).
Published in 1920 in the publication "Deutsche Graphiker der Gegenwart" (plate 19).
• From the last year of the great "Brücke" group of artists.
• In the same year, the closely related painting triptych "Genesende" (Busch-Reisinger Museum, Harvard University Art Museum, Cambridge/Mass.) was created.
• Further copies of this powerful woodcut are part of the important collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Davis Museum, Wellesley College, Wellesley/Mass. and the New Walk Museum & Art Gallery in Leicester.
