Ploen from August 20, 1919 and the greetings from Emy and Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Gertrud Schmidt (the artist´s sister) and Rosa Schapire: "Lieber Kurt - herzlichster Gruss heut - bist Du immer noch so fleissig bei der Arbeit? Deine Emy / Schönste Grüsse an den [..] Dein Karl / Herzlichste Grüsse Dir von Deiner Trude / Wir danken Ihnen herzlich! Ich wünsche Ihnen ebenso schöne Ferien wie ich sie hier verlebe Ihre Rosa Schapire" and with the date 20/8.19." and information on the sender: "Schapire, Hohwacht, Post Lütjenburg". [CH].
• Today, the self-designed postcards by the "Brücke" artists are considered an independent group of works with special art-historical significance.
• Since his summer sojourns during the First World War, Schmidt-Rottluff repeatedly returned to the small village of Hohwacht on the Baltic Sea and made his immediate surroundings, the coastal landscape and the simple life of the fishermen the subject of his works.
• Comparable postcards by the artist can be found in, among others, the collections of the Berlinische Galerie Museum für moderne Kunst, Berlin, the Brücke-Museum, Berlin, and the Museum Ludwig, Cologne.
