• Heckel places the "Hölderlinturm", the tower once inhabited by Friedrich Hölderlin (1770-1843) in Tübingen's old town directly on the Neckar, at the center of the depiction.
• The river crossing the depiction leads the viewer's gaze into the depths and is cleverly used by Heckel to reflect the buildings.
• In the same year, Heckel created a closely related painting of the same name (Brücke-Museum Berlin)
