• The artist created a linear composition with a primeval appeal in his characteristic style.
• As artist and teacher, Willi Baumeister is one of the most prominent figures of German Modernism.
• The rendition of paintings as graphic sheets is a method that Baumeister pursued with consistency and is an examination of his own work, parts of which were lost during the war.
• Graphic sheets by the artist are at, among others, the State Museums Berlin, the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart and the MoMA New York.
