Signed, dated, and titled on the reverse, as well as inscribed “I.”. Titled once again on the paper tag. With a label on the reverse, inscribed “Jörg Immendorff, geb. 14.6.1945, 8. Semester | ‘MALEREI’ Prof. BEUYS ‘Poensgen’”. 184.5 x 116.5 cm (72.6 x 45.8 in). [KA].
With a discarded draft of the same motif on the reverse .

• Significant early work, created while he was studying at the Düsseldorf Art Academy under Joseph Beuys.
• Since the 1960s, the motif of the baby has been one of his central themes.
• Immendorff breaks the traditional boundaries of the image carrier by cutting the figure out, thus lending the work a striking sculptural effect.
• Jörg Immendorff is one of the most famous German post-war artists and has been super successful internationally.
• He's currently honored with the exhibition “Zeig, was Du hast” (Show what you've got) in the Oberlichtsaal of the MKM Museum Küppersmühle für Moderne Kunst in Duisburg (May 16, 2025, to spring 2026).
