Der Falkenturm auf dem Mönchsberg bei Salzburg. 1818.
Oil on cardboard, laid down on canvas.
17 : 26 cm (6,6 : 10,2 in). The present work is one of Reinhold's early oil paintings. After his studies at the Dresden and Vienna Academy, the artist worked as a copper-engraver and etcher. First in 1816, under the supervision of his brother Friedrich Philipp, the artist turned to landscape painting. In 1818, Reinhold took a trip through Salzburg and Berchtesgarden, inspiring him to conduct several landscape studies - as in the present view of the falcon tower on the Möchberg mountain near Salzburg. [RS]

In good condition. With a tiny crack in the coat of paint or tiny colour loss on the leafage of the right tree. Partly with minor retouches in the margins.
