Signed, dated, titled, and labeled “(mounted - framed 67)” on the reverse. Also labeled “VI” on the reverse, presumably by a hand other than of the artist. 38.5 x 25.2 cm (15.1 x 9.9 in). [EH].
• Arnulf Rainer is the main figure and founder of Austrian Informalism.
• One of his early, magnificent overpaintings from the 1950s.
• Materiality of color paired with vibrant, gestural brushstrokes.
• He participated in documenta II in Kassel in 1959 and in the Venice Biennale in 1978 and 1980.
