Charcoal drawing, with glazing watercolors.

• Pechstein and Lotte spent a couple of weeks in Nida on the Curonian Spit the fall of the year this drawing was made.
• During this third sojourn in Nida the artist created more than twenty oil paintings, mostly depicting nudes in dunes, as well as watercolors, drawings and etchings.
• In the fall of 1912, this dynamic charcoal drawing, characterized by the subtle posture and composition of a nude on a sun-soaked beach, was certainly made as preliminary drawing for one of the oil paintings of which most are lost today
.
